On December 10th, I attended a Merced County Farm Bureau County Supervisor Chat and had the opportunity to speak with District 5 Supervisor Mr. Scott Silveira. The event gave me a chance to ask questions about several issues affecting our community. A few of the topics I was able to ask about were public safety and county roads, the Washington Bridge, the closure of Fire Station 75, law enforcement staffing, and air-quality programs. Speaking with Supervisor Silveira helped me overcome shyness when addressing elected officials. I gained a clearer understanding of how county government operates and learned that the county uses a variety of approaches to address local issues. Overall, the experience gave me valuable exposure to community leaders that will benefit my work and leadership in Golden Valley FFA.
