Opening and Closing 2025

The meeting room will come to order!
On September 24th, we attended the annual Merced-Mariposa Sectional Opening and Closing Ceremonies contest at Atwater High School. Golden Valley FFA took 7 teams, all taking positions at gold, silver, and bronze awards. A big round of applause to our officer team, who placed third overall! We give another congratulations to Timothy Whitfield, Parker Crooks, Chloe DeLeon, Aubri Villa, Savanna Benc, and Lacey Spielman for being awarded as outstanding officers in their rooms! One of our newest greenhands, Jack Carvelli, set the tone at the contest by bringing the energy into a fun round of karaoke.
The purpose of this competition is to introduce leadership to our newest FFA members. It teaches them to work as a team and develop public speaking skills. One of our outstanding freshmen, Parker Crooks, was excited to share his Greenhand experience of the opening and closing contest: “My time in the FFA opening and closing ceremony was a blast. I had memorized my lines with ease. I worked hard to memorize them, and when the time came, I unfolded my lines with ease. I stood tall and proud, as I spoke my lines effortlessly. I believe I did really well and received the outstanding reporter's award for doing exceptional work on my part. I am happy for all of my other FFA members for doing well.” We are excited for Parkers future in our program and can’t wait to see what challenges he will take on next!
This year the Merced-Mariposa FFA Section opened the contest to advanced teams. These teams are specific to students above the Greenhand level. We enjoyed seeing our FFA members be excited for this competition, as it was nostalgic for them to participate in the contest again. One of our junior FFA members and outstanding officer recipient, Aubri Villa, was more than happy to talk about her experience: “Our evening at Atwater High School for our Opening and Closing Competition was a great opportunity for me, and I’m so glad I didn’t pass it up! I was able to showcase my experience in public speaking, and my team was amazing. The celebration afterwards was a fun night and was filled with giggles. I’ll definitely be back for my senior year to potentially perform a larger speaking role.” The Golden Valley FFA Chapter is very proud of Aubri’s enthusiasm and how it reflects the dedication our FFA members pour into our organization.
Our chapter loves to see our students find their first spark in the organization, and this contest starts a wildfire! It was definitely a defining moment in our members’ futures because no member forgets their first SAE project, their first jacket, or their first speaking role! We can’t wait to be there next year with the next bunch!

Farm Safety Days

On March 27th and April 2nd, Golden Valley FFA was proud to assist in one of our favorite local events, Farm Safety Day. This day is a guide for young local students on how to safely conduct themselves in an agricultural environment, like working with tractors or in a mechanic shop.

We had multiple students attend this event, one being Yuritzi Olvera. She was quite excited to participate in this community service event; here is what she thought about it, "This event was a valuable learning experience but also gave us a chance to be more involved with not only our community but also communities that surround ours. Students like Ayden Chew, Branyon Bliss, Azlynn Figueroa, and myself assisted in explaining the safety of chemicals and firearms while working closely with Veteran Mike, who led the lecture. I appreciate being able to participate in this and look forward to more opportunities." It's very valuable to Golden Valley FFA that our students enjoy serving their community. We're so happy Yuritzi enjoyed her time at Farm Safety Day!

At this event we also had students who spent the day with the elementary students as they toured them around to the different farm safety stations. One of our tour guides, Gregory Hennagan, wrote down his experience at the event, “At Farm Safety Day I had an amazing time; the group of kids I was leading was very outgoing, and they treated everybody with the utmost respect. Not only was I able to talk to kids of the newer generation, but I got to see their inputs on agriculture and why we need it. I was able to relate to many of them. I remember working with my parents in the agricultural industry, growing up on the family farm, similar to how these young students do as well. I am thankful for this experience, and I can't wait for the Farm Safety Days next year!”

We are glad to have had our students have such a positive reaction to the Farm Safety Days! We hope this experience encourages their passions in agriculture and does so with the safety lessons they have learned. Way to showcase the FFA motto and Learning to Do!

2025 Central Region Meeting

On March 21st, 2025, Golden Valley FFA  had the exceptional opportunity to host the California FFA Regional meeting. Brooke Buckingham served as one of our voting delegates, and Greyson Dockstader and countless others enjoy watching how the regional meeting is done!

As one of our delegates, Brooke says, "Being a voting delegate at the Regional Meeting is something I’ll always remember. I’m proud that Golden Valley FFA hosted such a successful event, and I’m even prouder that I got to play a role in it! I gained confidence in myself and learned how important it is to stay informed and engaged. One of my favorite parts of the meeting was listening to the candidate speeches. Every single one was inspiring in its own way. You could feel their passion, and their confidence honestly lit up the room. I would definitely attend something like this again, and I’d recommend it to any member who wants to get more involved and see the impact they can make." Golden Valley FFA is very proud of Brooke for boosting her involvement in agriculture and in leadership.

Our 2024-2025 Chapter President, Greyson Dockstader, also attended the meeting, and here's what he has to say, "As a participant in this activity, the experience was truly eye-opening. It was inspiring to watch as passionate and dedicated individuals poured their hearts and souls into their speeches, striving to prove themselves as the best candidates for their respective positions. One of the most significant lessons I learned from this experience is that no matter how ambitious our dreams may seem, if we remain devoted and true to our passions, the rewards will not only be fulfilling but will drive us toward even greater success. This event served as a powerful reminder that dedication and authenticity are key to unlocking our full potential."

The chapter is proud to have given these students the opportunity to expand their horizons. We hope there is much more to unlock for all our members!

California ffa state conference 2025

On April 3rd-6th, eight Golden Valley FFA members attended the 97th Annual California State FFA conference. They had a wonderful time listening to inspirational speakers such as rodeo comedian Dale Brisby, the California State Treasurer Fiona Ma, Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond, and Miss USA Alma Cooper. Our students were also inspired by the retiring addresses from our now past state FFA officers and their stories of leadership.

Out of our amazing students, we have Ashlynn Roduner, who served as a State Conference attendee on behalf of our chapter. Here's her experience from up in the stands, “Overall, the state conference was a fantastic experience; listening to the now past state officers stories was very inspiring, and I'm so glad to have had the opportunity to go. The people are so kind and genuine; it's a good experience if you want to meet new friends, learn about the FFA, or overall just bond with your chapter." Ashlynn is one of our seniors, so we are so happy she had a positive experience at her last State Conference as an active FFA member at Golden Valley.

We also had one of our delegates down on the floor get us an inside scoop of what's going on behind the scenes. Here's the delegate rundown courtesy of Gregory Hennagan, “My time at the 97th Annual California FFA State Conference was very fun. Not only was I able to attend, I had the opportunity to be a voting delegate. I got to meet many people thanks to my experience as a delegate. I am honored to have been able to go through this experience, and I can't wait for next year!" We are glad to hear the 97th Annual State FFA Conference had such a lasting impact on our members. Golden Valley definitely can't wait until next year either!

We here at Golden Valley FFA are proud representatives of what California FFA is all about. We are excited to see what the upcoming year has in store for us with our newly installed officer team! Our members are one hundred percent Central Region Proud!
